Tons of controls
Four selectable pad banks for a total of 64 playable pads, eight
assignable faders, eight assignable switches and eight assignable, 360 degree knobs for transmitting MIDI control change data, all combine for unprecedented creative freedom. Three selectable control banks extend the number of available faders, buttons and knobs to 24 each. Two assignable footswitch inputs and an expression pedal input of Akai MPD32 takes the total assignable controller count to 75 - the most by far in any pad controller. The MPD32 also features transport controls for interfacing with DAW/sequencing applications. The MPD32 is a fully-programmable controller and multi-functional control surface that fits perfectly within any production or performance environment.

Steinberg Groove Agent 3

 is a plug-in or standalone application that provides ready-to-go drum rhythms with only a few mouse clicks. The program can play the most popular and influential styles from the past fifty years of music history inside most host application. Based on a huge library of quality drum and percussion samples, most of which were recorded especially to analog tape, the software places a top studio drummer on call.

Creating a drum track couldn't be easier - the user chooses a music style and a drum kit. There are settings for the amount of drum room ambience, fills and half-time breaks required for the track. Groove Agent 3 can play at over two dozen different complexity levels, allowing the user to create the right mood with a rhythm track simply by moving a slider. Volume, ambience, decay, tuning and velocity response can be adjusted individually for each instrument.

Two new "players" (called agents) have been added to the original player. Special Agent adds a realistic sounding studio drummer, complete with additional acoustic drum kits, while Percussion Agent specializes in percussive grooves and beats. A Dual Mode allows two of the three agents to be active simultaneously. The rhythm output of Groove Agent 3 can be saved to an external MIDI file, irrespective of which application happens to be hosting the plug-in. The application runs smoothly with just about every standard host.
