AKG PZM-6D Pressure-zone Microphone

AKG PZM-6D

 is a low-profile pressure-zone microphone, perfect for use on conference tables or for mounting overhead. The PZM-6D features an attached 16' cable and an electronics module with an XLR-type output. It offers a selectable frequency response, one that's flat and one with rising high-end presence.

Like other Pressure Zone Microphones, the PZM-6D uses the Pressure Recording Process in which a miniature condenser mic capsule is positioned very close to a sound-reflecting plate or boundary. The capsule is mounted in the ressure Zone just above the boundary, a region where sound coming directly from the sound source combines in phase with sound reflected off the boundary. The benefits are excellent clarity and "reach," a hemispherical polar pattern, uncolored off-axis response, and a wide smooth frequency response free of phase interference.
