Alesis Monitor One MK2 Studio Monitors build on that tradition while delivering even better performance. A few short months after their introduction, the Monitor One Studio Reference Monitors became winners of a TEC Award, the reason being that they provided a wide frequency range, clear imaging, high-power handling and excellent bass transient response, all at an affordable price.

New 6.5" polypropylene low-frequency drivers deliver tighter, more accurate bass response. These are matched with newly redesigned 1" pure silk-dome high frequency transducers that deliver a smooth and even response, provide more detail and a broader sound stage. The overall frequency response of the Monitor One Mk2 monitors has been increased at the top end, coupled with more efficient power handling.

The cabinets of the Monitor One Mk2 have been redesigned and are now mirror image, left/right pair for symmetrical speaker placement. They also feature radiused edges for reduced edge diffraction, along with improved porting which delivers an improved low-frequency response. Magnetic shielding is provided to allow for their use in close proximity to video and computer monitors.

02/03/2012 - Admittedly my first experience with near fields and I know there are more expensive kinds, but for my home studio, which is small they work very well. I've mixed two cds worth of original tunes on them now and translation factor (how the final product sounds on other players, home stereo units, boom boxes, etc.) is very good. I mix down on these; I'm reasonably assured the mix will travel. I like these because they're a) inexpensive b) good. Are you looking for inexpensive and good? Buy these.

09/20/2011 - There is very little top end and too much bottom end on these speakers. I have just finished mixing some recordings, and all of them came out with far too much treble, because of over compensation due to the speakers. I'm not saying they are unusable, but you would want to have a good graphic EQ adjusted to get the most out of these speakers if you are going to use them in a home studio recording environment. You get what you pay for!

02/25/2011 - i purchased the MK2s for my home studio and was very impressed with the sound quality. These bad boys give you a true sound and really help you tune those drums coming off your samplers. The price is a steal. I remember when it cost a lot of money to own quality studio equipment that would produce a prefessional, industry standard, sound. The MK2 makes the starvin musician sound like the hit makers.

07/06/2010 - These speakers are incredible. They reproduce sound beyond others. You hear it all just like it is beside you. Got a nice pair of computer speakers with a built in amp? Just replace the speakers with Monitor 1's and look out. Top quality sound for 200 bucks!!!! Have a much better bass response than other speakers in this price range. I have recorded for 30 years and heard them all. Nothing beats these speakers for price and performance.
