If you want a computer program that makes great sounds for a keyboard, and LOTS of them, this is it. I would give it a 5, but I thought it was a REAL KEYBOARD, and I couldn't get my money back. THIS IS A COMPUTER PROGRAM, but a very excellent one.

I use minimoog V (now updated version 1.1) together with my other VA and soft synths, and minimoog V has a distinct sound itself, especially great with lead, bass and pad sounds.. Presets are quite good and inspiring. I use it for my electronic music production and it really fits well in the mix.

Anyone can operate this - you can play the keys on the screen and you can hook it up through MIDI to an external keyboard. I use it with my Roland JX-8P and it's great. The nice thing is that the original Minimoog was much smaller than a normal 61-note keyboard, and in the software version you can play those missing notes with your external board. You can use the presets easily or you can start with a fresh sinewave and create your own sound. Actually, this is how a minimoog was supposed to be used because nothing was stored in memory. The only thing I dislike about the software version is that you can't really dial in on the control knobs without using the mouse. And unless there's some way to control them with the external keyboard that I've never heard about, than it just makes for a pain. I usually use preset sounds anyway because I know next to nothing about synthesis.
