Arturia Minimoog V Academic Software is identical to the regular commercial version. Buyer must be a student, a teacher, or affiliated with church, school, college, none-profit organization. Student id or similar id is required for the purchase. Arturia Minimoog V comes loaded with more than 500 presets made by a selection of talented sound designers. Arturia Minimoog V is certainly an instrument which is going to bring a lot to your musical palette.
In 1971 at the NAMM convention, Bob Moog introduces the Minimoog, the very first compact and affordable synthesizer for musicians. With Arturia Minimoog V's fat sound and unmatched filters, the Minimoog eventually became responsible for some of the best analog synth bass and lead sounds ever. Later in 2004 at the NAMM show, Arturia launch the minimoog V, a faithful reproduction of the Minimoog. Offering all the features of the original, the Arturia Minimoog V software version also brings polyphony, MIDI management, presets, coupled with other advantages of modern tools - behind the control panel are additional functions: a modulation matrix, an arpeggiator and an independent LFO as well as a stereo chorus and a delay.
But what about the core of the Minimoog, the sound - Arturia's proprietary technology for emulating analog circuits, the minimoog V offers an unrestrained quality of sound. Sharp filters, aliasing-free oscillators, soft-clipping guarantee you to have the best analog emulation on the market.

01/11/2008 - If you want a computer program that makes great sounds for a keyboard, and LOTS of them, this is it. I would give it a 5, but I thought it was a REAL KEYBOARD, and I couldn't get my money back. THIS IS A COMPUTER PROGRAM, but a very excellent one.

04/24/2007 - I use minimoog V (now updated version 1.1) together with my other VA and soft synths, and minimoog V has a distinct sound itself, especially great with lead, bass and pad sounds.. Presets are quite good and inspiring. I use it for my electronic music production and it really fits well in the mix.

01/26/2007 - Anyone can operate this - you can play the keys on the screen and you can hook it up through MIDI to an external keyboard. I use it with my Roland JX-8P and it's great. The nice thing is that the original Minimoog was much smaller than a normal 61-note keyboard, and in the software version you can play those missing notes with your external board. You can use the presets easily or you can start with a fresh sinewave and create your own sound. Actually, this is how a minimoog was supposed to be used because nothing was stored in memory. The only thing I dislike about the software version is that you can't really dial in on the control knobs without using the mouse. And unless there's some way to control them with the external keyboard that I've never heard about, than it just makes for a pain. I usually use preset sounds anyway because I know next to nothing about synthesis.
