Line 6 Variax 600 Modeling Electric Guitar takes the same technology and sound from the award-winning Variax family and puts over 25 historic guitar sounds into a professional grade instrument with a classic look and feel. The Variax 600 features a comfort-contoured body, single-piece maple neck and fingerboard with rolled edges for a vintage feel, six-on-a-side headstock, custom tremolo bridge, 22 medium profile frets, 25 .5-inch scale length, and a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius. Variax 600 includes a custom-fitted gig bag, TRS cable, and XPS A/B footswitch/power supply box.
Within Variax 600 is Line 6's patented guitar modeling technology, which can accurately reproduce the sounds of a variety of well-known vintage electric and acoustic guitars, in addition to other guitar-related instruments, such as a resonator, banjo, and electric sitar. Modeled variations include solid-body, semi-hollow guitars, and hollow-body electrics with single-coil and humbucking pickups, as well as, several six- and twelve-string acoustics.
The all-new design of Variax 600 was crafted for the professional guitarist who wants incredible flexibility all in a primary instrument that works just like a traditional guitar. In addition to the standard volume and tone controls, there is a model selector knob and a 5-way selector switch, which changes the guitar models and selects the pickup position. The characteristic tone and volume control responses of each electric model are also accurately replicated, creating instant familiarity for guitarists.
Variax 600 has a standard 1/4-inch output that easily connects to any guitar amp or pedalboard setup. In addition, Variax 600 can also be digitally connected to Line 6's Vetta II amp or PODxt Live. Now it's possible to create patches that incorporate Variax guitar models with the amp, cab and effects models provided by Vetta II or PODxt Live. Musicians now have access to virtually any guitar-amp-cab-effect combination with just the press of a footswitch. Variax 600 is also compatible with Variax Workbench, the world's first virtual guitar custom shop for Mac or PC.

02/14/2008 - I have used this guitar extensively in the recording studio, and live on stage to back up the artists I have recorded with. It works well. Sounds excellent - especially with the computer "Workbench" that is purchased separately. My complaint is the guitar came with unfinished fret ends. This is a bit unacceptable to me for a guitar that cost so much. But if you can put up with the fret ends you will have a great inst rument for playing live and recording. Anyhow, it is not bad!

04/17/2007 - I play blues, jazz and rock and anything in between. I am playing it thru these amps: Fender Blues JR, Fender HRDlx and a Traynor YCV80Q amps... all tube, all nice.
The Variax 600 sounds great on all of them..its very quiet at high gain..PC recording is perfect as it does not interfere with the PC monitor..
The acoustic models are very good in my opinion, you can almost feel the wood being tapped when you play. The strat models are very identifiable, the ES335 model is dead-on, the LP model is very warm especially on the neck pups.
I also bought the workbench..and its an amazing tool! you can have alternate tunings with just a flip of a switch or a turn of a knob. It is very versatile and can definitely handle any type of music(including metal)...

08/27/2006 - I got mine 5 months ago, which came with the frets hanging over the side! Had them filed down and now it plays great! Since the Line 6 is digital it is also super quiet. You can get a right on Les Paul tone or Fender Strat without any extra noise. You can flip from a Telecaster to a big bodied acoustic to a chimey Rickenbacker 12 string with absolute authenticity. I still use my old Les Paul from time to time, but the Variax is really the better guitar for quick transitions between songs. Definetley worth it.
