Audix FireBall is a dynamic microphone specially created for professional harmonica players, and it works well with both chromatic and diatonic harmonicas. The elegant appearance of the Audix Fireball and distinctive design are CNC machined from a solid bar of aircraft grade aluminum at the Audix facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. The final appearance is obtained by a three-stage anodizing process that gives each microphone its own individual appearance. Each FireBall is elegantly laser engraved with its name and serial number, and has a dent-resistant grill ball with a deep re internal pop filter.
While the FireBall’s shape is intended to sit comfortably in the palm of your hand, it has a full-sized dynamic capsule that delivers large, full-bodied sound. The FireBall is exceptionally clean and precise, immune to feedback, and capable of managing sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB without distortion, thanks to VLM (Very Low Mass) capsule technology invented by Audix in the early 1990s.
Even more impressive is the FireBall’s capacity to reproduce high-quality sound even when the artist is cupping the grill ball. Audix FireBall can cause the microphone to “boom out” or become muddy and distorted, which is important for style and effect. The FireBall, on the other hand, will function as if it were in an open-air setting, even under the most extreme conditions.
The FireBall features a cardioid polar pattern and a smooth and uniform frequency response of 50 Hz–16 kHz, allowing it to focus on the instrument being miked without picking up other instruments or ambient noise on stage. The Audix Fireball is meant to be the perfect harmonica microphone. The Fireball has a finely machined aluminum body, a dent-resistant steel mesh grille, a three-stage marbled anodized finish and a gold-plated XLR connection.
