AKG C214 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone (Stereo Pair)

AKG C214 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone (Stereo Pair)

The AKG C214 MP (Matched Pair) is a large diaphragm condenser microphone which is a budget-friendly alternative to the C414 series of microphones. The AKG C214 captures sound by combining one of the classic C414 dual-capsule system’s capsules with AKG’s unique Back-Plate Technology, resulting in a performance that is comparable to the legendary C414 XLII.

The AKG C214 large diaphragm condenser microphone is used to record lead vocals, drums, acoustic instruments and guitar amplifiers in the studio, on stage or during broadcasting. These microphones were designed as a low-cost alternative to the well-known C414 microphone. They employ the same 1″ capsule as the C414 but in a single-diaphragm, cardioid-only configuration. Even at high sound pressure levels, the transducer uses technology that allows the membrane to move freely, resulting in a wide frequency range and detailed transients.

The AKG C214 is well suited for close-miking applications as well as overhead placement, with the inclusion of a switchable -20 dB pad and a 160 Hz low-cut filter. The AKG C214 is a tough cardioid mic designed to resist the harsh conditions found in professional studios and on the road. For a clearer sound, the integrated capsule suspension reduces mechanical noise and resonance. A double-mesh grille shields the capsule and ensures efficient rejection of RF interference without compromising acoustics in the die-cast metal body with a shock- and scratch-resistant surface. A metal carrying bag, two stand adapters, and two spider-type shock mounts are included with the pair of AKG C214 microphones.

  • Incredible Dynamic Range
The AKG C214 delivers AKG's classic large-diaphragm sound - and it's also capable of an impressive 143dB dynamic range for uncompressed, natural transients.
  • Use it on a Variety of Sources
If you want a premium vocal mic, you've found it with the AKG C214. And, while it's well worth the investment for that quality alone, you'll find that the C214 performs just as well on a variety instruments. Thanks to its switchable 20dB attenuation pad and low cut filter, the C214 can be used in sound fields as high as 156dB SPL - you can use it on stage for close miking loud applications such as drum overheads, guitar amps, or high-output brass. Whatever your needs, AKG C214 is an excellent mic to have on your side.
  • Quality AKG Construction
Built in Vienna, Austria, AKG mics are engineered from the ground up to truly perform. The C214 features an integrated capsule suspension that reduces mechanical noise and resonances for even greater sonic accuracy. Plus, the double mesh, all-metal grille protects the capsule and ensures high RF immunity without affecting AKG C214 mic's acoustical performance. This is one roadworthy mic, too - the C214 features a modern scratch-resistant finish, dent-resistant metal grille, and gold-plated XLR output.
