The AKG C214 large diaphragm condenser microphone is used to record lead vocals, drums, acoustic instruments and guitar amplifiers in the studio, on stage or during broadcasting. These microphones were designed as a low-cost alternative to the well-known C414 microphone. They employ the same 1″ capsule as the C414 but in a single-diaphragm, cardioid-only configuration. Even at high sound pressure levels, the transducer uses technology that allows the membrane to move freely, resulting in a wide frequency range and detailed transients.
The AKG C214 is well suited for close-miking applications as well as overhead placement, with the inclusion of a switchable -20 dB pad and a 160 Hz low-cut filter. The AKG C214 is a tough cardioid mic designed to resist the harsh conditions found in professional studios and on the road. For a clearer sound, the integrated capsule suspension reduces mechanical noise and resonance. A double-mesh grille shields the capsule and ensures efficient rejection of RF interference without compromising acoustics in the die-cast metal body with a shock- and scratch-resistant surface. A metal carrying bag, two stand adapters, and two spider-type shock mounts are included with the pair of AKG C214 microphones.
