01/16/2012 - Never to be replaced. Once again, this is made of METAL, not like the plastic POD series. this is DURABLE. I will never need another distortion again. You can use this for Rock, Metal, Blues, whatever.

09/18/2011 - I've had it for 7 months and it still works with no headaches. It's easy to use, easy to tweak, even the presets offer a good selection. Very good value. For the cost of a two distortion pedals, you get (in my opinion) six good distortions. Hard to argue with the economics of this box.

03/24/2011 - I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Vox AC30, Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, Line 6 DM4 and a Vox wah wah. After trying out all of the models on the DM4 with different settings, the four that I have chosen to use are: TUBE DRIVE (CHANDLER TUBE DRIVER) I use this with the drive at about 2.5, it gives a nice slightly over-driven sound. It's also great to turn the drive up which gives it a heavier sound but you can still hear your guitar's character. SCREAMER (IBANEZ TS-808 TUBE SCREAMER) I use this with the drive at about 5, it's a nice warm sound which is great for rhythm and you can hear each string. CLASSIC DISTORTION (RAT) I use this with the drive at 4.5, great model for lead or just for a really fantastic rock sound. It's a very versatile model where you can have the drive set very low for that bluesy feel right up to the max for that over-the-top sound. FUZZ PI (ELECTRO HARMONIX BIG MUFF) I use this with the drive at 8, it gives that heavy sustain with a bit of compression ideal for heavy rock/metal

02/14/2011 - Different people do different things for different reasons. Hence tone is very subjective. But my experience is that to have this pedal sound the best, which is the point for when one wants to judge it, you need several things. The first thing you need is a good tube amp, but that is not enough if the amp is set at low volumes. Only when the amp is cranked and the clean channel is a bit pushed is when you get the best the pedal can do. Plug it into a solid state and you are not really experiencing what it can really do. I have a solid state marshall mg50dfx and a tube tsl601. Tried the pedal through both and found it to come more to life in my tube amp as i increased the volume and gain on the clean channel. My tone is pretty simple, guitar to wah to amp set with both deep switches, clean gain 3/4 the way mid at mid and bass and treble and reverb all the way when i have the DM4 engaged. I just got this pedal to rid myself of all the pedals when playing covers, and for that it does a decent job. I would never chose any of the effects on this unit to define my distorted sound. My sound is basically the lead channel on my tube amp with gain all the way, volume 3/4 of the way, mid at mid bass and treble 3/4 of the way and reverb all the way. But to judge it for what i got it for i think it does a decent job replicating pedals and ridding one of the need for an extensive distortion pedal board. Do i love it, not really, will i replace it if stolen?, well not if i am not gigging. My personal opinion is that it is a good sidekick for the gigging musician and in terms of finding your sound, well to each his own but definitely not for me. But you definitely need a good rig to get the most out of this pedal, hence before anyone goes around dissing it just make sure your amp costs a bit more than this unit.

11/09/2010 - I tinkered with this thing for awhile and found tons of good tones in it. I play in a rock cover band and needed a way to have multiple sounds at my disposal. I first found a setting that was "my" tone. It's the setting I fall back on or write with. I then proceeded to find useful tones that work for the music we play. I have a setting I call "OD" which is an ACDC/early Zep tone (crunchy). I have a "METAL" setting for Metallica/megadeth type stuff. Lastly I setup a "FUZZ" tone using the big muff model, for old Sabbath and such. To me, it is a very useful tool and provides enough variety to make it worthwhile for a working musician. Besides being versatile, I also find it to be just a good distortion unit. Very fluid and sustainy and the noise gate makes it studio quiet (way more so than the gain channels on my Mesa head). I have been playing since he 70's and have had about ever OD/Distortion pedal available, and I find this as useful, if not more so, than most all of them. Side by side with some of the originals (which I have)I'll pick the Line 6 just for the noise gate feature. Most all are a fair simulation of the original and some are just awesome. The ProCo Rat is probably my favorite on this unit and can be used for just about any style music with a twist of the gain control. I run it through the clean channel on my Mesa head running through a 4x10 Hartke cab with Eminence Delta Demon speakers. It doesn't substitute for the gain channel on the Mesa, but it is more versatile and I use it as channels 3,4,5 and 6. I have many guitars and it works well with all of them, plus the noise gate even makes high gain models work with single coil pu's without massive hum.

10/17/2010 - Used for metal and blues. Excellent match for both. Just learning guitar and was looking for a sound that motivated me to practice more. If it were lost or stolen I would definitely buy another one. I like the fact that it has so many usable sounds in a small package. For what it costs the power supply should be included. Great product. Buy one you will not be disappointed.

06/15/2010 - I was satisfied with this product for years. I have six solid distortion sounds for a reasonable cose, in a small package. I wish the other ten sounds were better. I also wish there were more than four programmable stomp switches. If the box was lost, I'd buy another one; it's the cheapest way to get some good, useful distortions. Overall, I am very happy with the DM4.

05/15/2010 - The pedal is fabulous with what it does but after 12 months it switches off all the time. Repairers Cannot find what is wrong. May have to replace the motherboard which will be too expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it may be.(the power source is fine)

04/11/2010 - I was looking for a box that would provide that chunky Limp Bizkit sound, a violin-like Jeff Beck lead sound, a medium range Clapton sound and equal parts searing Steve Vai/Jimi Hendrix lead sounds--this pedal had all that, and sooo much more. With the expression pedal, you can even fade from one preset to another for a cool transitional effect (for example, swap from bluesy rhythm to hyperdriven lead, gradually while playing). A good box!

03/23/2010 - Sound quality is high. Unit is very quite. I bought this pedal because to get a variety of useful distortions, particularly the tube-screamer, rat, and some very heavy distortion. I'm very happy with my amp's "blues" distortion, so blues sounds from the pedal are of secondary importance to me. I am happy with the "boost/comp", "tube drive", "screamer", "classic distortion", "heavy distortion", and "line 6 distortion" sounds. That 6 out of 16. The other 10 are not very useful to me. I use various strats, dunlop q-wah, boss dd6, fender hotrod deville 4x10. A good buy!

02/13/2010 - I've had it for 1-2 years and it still works with no headaches. I have not been playing live gigs since I bought it, but it seems gig-safe. Very good value. For the cost of a two distortion pedals, you get (in my opinion) six good distortions. Hard to argue with the economics of this box.
